Commitment, dedication, adaptability, and purposefulness are words that describe Westosha Lakes’ director, Nancie Kiddoo.
Joining the world of singing in 2004 as a chorus member, Nancie discovered the world of acappela, barbershop-style music both challenging and rewarding.
The world of music is not new to Nancie. Her natural musical talents were first nurtured in the instrumental arena. A Milwaukee, Wisconsin native, she played the flute for both the band and orchestra at Milwaukee’s Bay View High School. Along with playing flute, she began a piano career. Studying piano under the well-known Milwaukee instructor, Irma Dufenhorst.
Nancie became acclimated to the world of performing and competition. She later earned a teaching certification from the St Louis Institute of Music. After receiving a (teaching) degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Nancie left the Midwest and headed for the sunny shores of southern California where she met the man of her dreams, married and began raising a family.
She and her husband, Rob, have been married for nearly three decades and are parents to three adult-age children. While in California she continued her musical career by teaching private instrument lessons, being a musical director, and singing in a mixed quartet at her church.
Nancie and her husband once again call the Midwest their home. Nancie continues to utilize her musical talents as both a career and a hobby. In July of 2009, Westosha Lakes Chorus invited Nancie to leave her singing assignment and begin the new challenge of being their interim director. She enthusiastically accepted this position. Her goal-driven personality has put the chorus on track for an exciting future.
In May of 2011, Nancie agreed to accept the position of front-line director and in January of 2014, she completed the Sweet Adeline Director Certification Program, achieving the level of Certified Director.
She has made it a personal goal to make Westosha Lakes Chorus an excellent performing group and welcomes any women, who enjoy singing, to come and visit a rehearsal.
